We had a great mini-vacation to San Diego for my sister-in-laws wedding. I'm glad to be back and got a wonderful report from my sub.
She did this a-dor-able penguin craft with them. They turned out so cute!
We were in full reading mode this morning. This group worked on the blends chart and focused on the "sh" chunk in their book. They did an outstanding job retelling the story!
During math, we talked about place value and constructed numbers using rods (10) and units (1). My kids blew me away with their strategies. I heard one say 1 rod and 7 units makes 17, so 10 + 7 = 17!!! Wow!! We focused on numbers 11-20 and will build upon that. They are so good at adding numbers to 10 using rods and ten frames!! So so proud!!!
Matthew worked hard constructing teen numbers.
Mattie asked for a harder number. Look at her go! She said..I know 2 tens makes 20 and you add 7 more ones and you get 27, so 20 + 7= 27! She was so proud of herself.
We had free write today so I could get caught up from being absent for 3 days. I loved John David's entry about the tornado drill this morning. Check out his illustration of the kids taking cover. Love it!
Ananya did a great job "fixing it up" in the writing center! Look at her editing marks! Can you believe a kindergartner knows how to edit??!!
Remily's reading response cracked me up! :) I think we're all sick of snowmen and ready for some warm sunshine. :)
Congrats to JD and Fatima for receiving the PE award! Great job!
I wanted to share some pictures from our trip. We had a ball!
Beverly Hills-Rodeo Drive!
Harrison's first time on an airplane. He did great.
We saw the famous Hollywood sign.
The Zoo was fabulous!!
We stayed on Coronado Island.
Before the wedding.
My sweet sister-in-law and her husband.
Harrison was the ring bearer. He did fantastic!!
Our last day we went to eat by the ferry.
I'm so proud of my class for being so well behaved while I was out. :) thank you for raising such precious children!!!
It's almost the 100th Day of Kindergarten!! A flyer will go home tomorrow.
