We started our morning with the Roberts News in the flex space. We will do this every morning from now on. It will start at 7:40, so please make sure your child is on time. :) My sister-in-law, Mallory Hardin, is an anchor for KARK CH 4 in the morning. I'm hoping to get a picture of my class on the news soon! We will invite a meteorologist to come speak about the weather when we study that unit. We're allowed to take 2 field trips this year, so I would like to have my class meet there after school one day so we can take a tour. :) More details later.

Matthew was our King/Student Teacher today. I was so impressed with his presentation and the kids LOVED his slingshot!! Everyone asked where he got it and he told us somewhere downtown where they sell stuff. :) Great job Matthew!

We've been working very hard on dot cards during calendar math, which help with instant recognition of groups of numbers (subitizing, unitizing, and fluency)—all of which are important parts of the common core standards. Matthew did a great job flashing the dot cards to my class.

I introduced the Work on Writing Center today. We talked all about rules and procedures. John David did a great job putting the lids back on my favorite markers. Have you heard of Scentos??? They're my absolute FAV!! They're scented and make writing SO fun!! If you see them at Wal-Mart, grab a few for your child or maybe a few for the classroom. :)

This group did a great job drawing an animal and labeling it. I think they enjoyed smelling the Scentos markers. :) Caleb loved the orange scented one. :)

A big thanks to Kylie's mom for volunteering in the classroom today. We enjoyed her visit. Also, thanks so much to Addison's mom for cutting and organizing dot cards. I really appreciate it. Please let me know if I can send home laminating items that need to be cut and organized. You can email or text me. :)

Remily worked really hard in the Listen to Reading center. She did an excellent job on her response sheet for comprehension.

We made "I" watches today since that's our sight word this week. The kids LOVED them, especially Gracie.

Amogh knows the word "I" by heart. :)

Mia Grace's dad and brother had lunch with us today.

Kylie's mom stayed for lunch too.

I interrupted Mia Grace during counting collections. Oops. :) She and John David did an awesome job counting, finding the number on the 50's chart, and journaling about it. Awesome learning!!!!

Awesome team work Aiden and Addison. I love her counting strategy.

Today we went to art with Mrs. Kunkel. She is a fabulous teacher. My class worked on starting at the top, using left to right brush strokes. Good job Owen!

Caleb did a fantastic job following directions.

Salihah and Ananya placed their artwork on the drying rack. Great job following directions!

How cute is this??? I found it at Target and can't wait to use it in my classroom. :)

An MP3 Player was purchased by one of my student's grandparents for our Listen to Reading Center. I'm so excited and sooo appreciative! Thank you!!

I wanted to share this adorable pen cup I received from Lilly today. I HEART it so much. :) I also got some delicious peanut brittle from Remily yesterday. I ate all of it before I had a chance to snap a pic. We had a great day!! This week has gone by so fast!!

Tomorrow is Treasure Box Day!!! I picked up a fee things from Target tonight. I HEART that store SO much!! If you would like to donate to our Treasure Box, I would appreciate it so much. Thanks!!

Tomorrow is spirit day!! Please have your child wear a Razorback shirt/outfit or Roberts T-shirt to school tomorrow. We will have spirit day every Friday this football season!! :)
