Lilly was the Queen today. I forgot to mention that I also refer to the King/Queen as the student teacher too. :) Lilly did a fabulous job helping us with the Daily News. We started writing the date this week using numbers. Please help your child with this skill.

Lilly told us all about her favorite blanket, Bis. She did a wonderful job presenting it.

We worked very hard on the letter M today. Mattie helped highlight it on the ABC chart. We talked about the sound, path of movement, and made a list of M words today.

Gracie did a great job holding our Alpha Friend up, Mimi Mouse.

We learned this fun September song today.

We worked hard on rules and procedures in the Listen to Reading Center. I LOVE this part of Daily 5. After they listen to a book, each child gets a clipboard and response sheet. They write the title, give it a thumbs up or down, and then illustrate their favorite part. I found a great deal on MP3 players on amazon for 29.00 each. Wouldn't it be great if I had 4, so each child could use their own?? I'm going to add that to my wish list too. :) :)

Lilly, Owen, Mia Grace and Aiden Did a great job listening to the book, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.

Matthew worked really hard in the Read to Someone Center today.

Awesome writing Kylie! More Pete the Cat!!

Great job Salihah!

Way to go Owen!

Fabulous Aiden!!

The kids are ready to count! I know I've spent a really long time with rules and procedures with counting collections...but I really wanted them to understand the process.

Check out this article:http://swaec.org/math/Shared%20Documents/Counting%20Collections.pdf

Gracie and Kayden did awesome! You can see how each person counts, sorts, and classifies differently. I love it!!

Addison and Aiden did great! I love the teamwork!

Mattie and Gabriel counted very well!

Caleb and Salihah worked very well as a team!

I loved the way Remily counted by stacking. They each have their own method and that's AWESOME!

Kylie and Amogh did great using their 20's chart! Tomorrow they will get a 50's chart.
Overall, these kids know counting collections rules and procedures. Tomorrow, each box will have a different amount. Your child will receive a box based on their counting ability. The goal is to build number sense and one-to-one correspondence. I love watching them explore and use their counting strategies.
A big thanks to Addison's mom for sending snacks. We enjoyed Lilly's snack today too!

So sweet and creative!!

Just a reminder.

One more. :)
