Happy 6th birthday Austin! We had fun celebrating your special day.

We worked on words that rhyme and end with -at. They caught on really fast. I love when light bulb goes off and they say...I can read that word!!

We sang a fun pumpkin poem and added adjectives using post-it's to fill in the blanks. I love watching their inventive spelling. They are doing great with beginning and ending sounds.

We focused on a non-fiction book about pumpkins. We talked about the life cycle, fun facts and concepts about print. We counted the words in each sentence and highlighted the capital letter.

During writer's workshop, we made a bubble map about pumpkins. Once again, I LOVE graphic organizers. It's great to see them stay on topic. I can't wait to see them take their knowledge to paper.

During centers, this group matches -at words. They did a great job!
