Blankets
for Babies
Kindergarten and
First Grade will be collecting NEW baby blankets for babies spending Christmas
in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The
baby blankets can be fleece, knot blankets, crocheted, satin, minkee dot or
whatever your favorite blanket is. Blankets need to be standard size, no receiving blankets please. :) Homemade blankets are welcome too! You can pick boy,
girl, or gender neutral, but must be NEW due to infection control.
Blankets will be collected
from November 21-December 20. You may send it to school with your child. Feel
free to get your friends, family, or community group involved. The more the
better! They will be distributed Saturday, December 21. Our goal is to bless
each family that has to spend Christmas in one of Little Rock’s Neonatal
Intensive Care Units (NICU) with a nice new blanket for their child.
1 in 8 babies in the US are born
prematurely and 13 million babies worldwide are born each year, much too early.
Chances are that you, or someone you know, have been dramatically affected by
prematurity. Please join us in this simple gesture that will mean so much to these
families spending Christmas in the hospital.
Mrs. Hardin’s son, Harrison,
was born 3 months early, weighing 2 pounds. He spent 93 days at UAMS' Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit, which included his first Thanksgiving
and Christmas. During their stay, so many people reached out to help. One
specific act of kindness stood out. On
Christmas Day, they received a beautiful baby blanket for Harrison. They wrapped him up in it and it
quickly became his favorite.
