Addison did a fabulous job as Queen of the Day! She was a great assistant, especially walking the lunchbox cart to the Dining Room!

Remily shared her scrapbook "All About Me" page with the class. I was so proud of her presentation!

Mattie shared so much about her family. She also did a great job!

Aiden wrote a fabulous story today. I was so proud to see him using the skills binder and the star writer's checklist. He wrote...I am at South Carolina. I love how he used a capital letter, labeled and wrote from left to right!!

We began The Daily 5 today. Ridge did a great job retelling Readers Respect.
The Daily Five is a management system that focuses on the following:
1. Provides students substantial time to read and write.
2. Incorporates a variety of clearly defined instructional routines that accelerates learning.
3. Builds stamina to ensure longer periods of time students successfully read and write.
4.Teaches students to understand and monitor their literacy goals.
The Daily 5 includes the following centers: Read to Self, Read to Someone, Work on Writing, Word Work and Listen to Reading. I also allow a group to use the computer center and my ipad during Daily 5. :) There are 4- children to a group and I'll meet with 3 reading groups a day. Each reading group will be tailored to your child's reading and writing level.

Matthew did an awesome job helping us learn about the 3 Ways to Read A Book! He modeled this perfectly!

We also learned a new vocabulary word today...STAMINA! Lilly did a great job explaining how she was going to use stamina during The Daily 5.

We practiced "Read to Self" for 5 minutes today! Salihah did so well!

We used a timer to stay focused!

Owen also used stamina too!!

John David and Addison were very focused too.

Caleb did an awesome job during shared writing. This is where we generate a story together and I "share" my pen. We talked all about concepts about print/star writer's checklist. Then the children write a story in their green journal independently. During writing, I hold mini-conferences with individual students and we talk about their writing.

Mattie completed the story with a fabulous illustration.

Remily reviewed the star writer's checklist with the class.

We began Counting Collections today in Math. We learned all about the rules and procedures. Amogh and Kylie did a wonderful job demonstrating.

Mia Grace and John David modeled which partner gets the box and who gets the math journals.

We worked SO hard today!!!! We topped it off with a kissing hand sugar cookie. My kids loved this story so much! Overall, it was a busy, fun day...full of learning!!! I am so proud of them! Thank you so much for your support.
