Apples

It's apple week! This is one of my favorite units!

We sang a super cute apple song!

We are learning all about the letter N. We made a list of names that end with the letter N. I wanted to change it up from beginning sounds.

Vaishavi found the sight word "and" during shared reading.

I introduced new center work. This is always a favorite in the math center.

Addison went on a scavenger hunt to find the apple seeds. She counted and recorded on the response sheet.

Look at Ethan counting and recording!

These boys enjoyed the new fall stories on the iPods.

These 2 cuties worked on the letter Nn in the writing center.

These girls matched rhyming words in the word work center.

Angelene did fabulous labeling the apple tree!

We started small reading groups today. We worked on concepts about print and fluency.

We will focus on these reading strategies during small groups. The main strategy we worked on was "getting your mouth ready!" This is such an important one.

Connor did a great job labeling the parts of an apple.

During math we worked on number order. They did fantastic and caught on fast!

Have a great weekend!

Such a happy morning in Room 105! I got many "Happys"that made my day! For those that don't know, we experienced a devastating loss in 2008. Our baby girl, Ava Jane, was born at 23 weeks gestation on September 19, 2008. she weighed I pound 5 ounces. This is always a hard day, but thanks to my sweet co-workers, sweet kids and parents at Roberts, friends, and family, this day went so much better than I planned. We are so blessed.

Another great thing happened this morning! Griffin and Londyn received the September Character Award for showing Respect. Way to go!!

We continued to make 5, using different combinations.

They did awesome!!

My husband, Mr. Scooter, surprised me at work today with beautiful flowers and a Wendy's cheeseburger! Yum. My fav! The kids loved meeting him!

Overall, we had a busy, fun day. I love my class and they turned my sadness into happiness. Thank you for blessing me with your children.

We had a VERY busy Wednesday! We did lots of assessing in literacy and science, so I don't have a ton of pics!

We do a daily phonemic awareness warm-up during the literacy block. Olivia segmented and blended the words.

We sorted beginning sounds into 3 groups.

We highlighted the c's and circled the rhyming words. I LOVE watching my kids read their poetry folder during familiar reading. I've noticed them reading each poem fluently and pointing to each word! Awesome!!!

We did a grammar assessment today that focused on nouns. They had to draw and label an animal and a thing.

During Science, we learned about solids, liquids, and gasses. They did a great job sorting!

This was the last assessment! Wooooh that was a lot of work! We did a quick letter ID check. Good job Londyn!

This card made my day!!!!!!!! Andrew's grandparents donated 100.00 to our class iPad fund!! So now it's 230.00! Yippie! They also wrote me the sweetest card. So sweet and brought a smile to my face. Thank you so much!!!
