Fun Friday

What a fun Friday! We wrapped up "snowman" week with a writing project and a yummy snack.

Joel did great making a list of CVC words and regular. So great!

I think this was their favorite part. This was a fun project because they had to create Olaf with the objects in the bag. I did very little modeling. Thanks for the cute labels Wendy! They had to focus on shape identification, balancing and constructing. I saw many kids breaking pretzel sticks to use for a variety of things. It was great to watch them use their creativity and practice fine motor skills.
P.S. All items used were low sugar and sugar free. I'm all about healthy, fun activities. :)

Soooo cute!!! Didn't they turn out adorable?!?!!!

So cute !!!!!

During writing, we wrote a "how to" piece. It was titled, Do You Want to Build a Snowman? We talked about each step. Each child received a word and we put our story together! How great is this??! Their writing has taken off!! Makes me so proud!

After writing, we made our fabulous snowman! They cut out the various shapes and details, then glued down.

I love to see teamwork!!

The final product!

I have to brag on my 2 co-workers! This is Mrs. Glover's Olaf! So cute!

And here's Mrs. Dees'! So fun!!

I had to show off my son's snowman! :) Makes this mama smile. :)

Our bulletin board turned out so fun. We loved the book, Snowmen at Night.

Lola Belle wore a new leopard outfit, so of course we had to take a selfie! :)

I loooove hugs!!!!!

This is one of my precious KinderPals from last year! I loooove her shirt so much! This "saying" is my fav BC that's what my Grandpa used to say to me and now I say it to Harrison. Olivia and I said it to each other too!! :)

I saw these 2 siblings after school. Too cute!!

Have a spectacular weekend!!

Happy Birthday Audrey

Happy 6th Birthday Audrey!! We loved celebrating with you! Thanks for the sweet party favors.

We read a stunning winter pop-up book. My kids were in awe! It really is a neat book. We learned new adjectives to describe the illustrations.

We continued with CVC words-consonant, vowel, consonant. We sorted them into 2 categories. They did spectacular!! I am just amazed at their writing.

As an extension activity from this fun book, we made our own snowmen at night. We used a process known as tear art. This was new to a lot of kids. They were a little hesitant at first and then the ripping and tearing started flowing!

Austin loved the tearing!!

Emma did too. :)

Look at Chelsea's final product!! I love the moon in the sky and the variety of snowflakes. We talked about how no single snowflake can be the same.

Check out more cute masterpieces!! I love it!!

Overall, this was a very successful project and my kids had fun and got in some great fine motor practice.

Our school received this letter from ACH about the Blankets for Babies service project. It's soo sweet and makes it all worth it. Thank you for your generosity!!

Tomorrow is a big day! We will be painting snowmen and making Olafs. :) fun Friday!!!!

Welcome Back!!

We had a fabulous day back in room 105! The kids were all smiles, maybe a little sleepy, but eager to get started.

We celebrated Chelsea's 6th birthday today. She's a New Years Eve baby!! So fun!

These 2 cuties lost teeth over the break.

We learned a new song about the new year and new month. We highlighted chunks in words, punctuation, and -ing words.

We also focused on words that end with -en. Since we are talking about snowmen, they were eager to learn how to spell snowmen.

We read one of my favorites and made a prediction about the end. You can see that most thought he melted. I loved hearing their reasons.

A big happy birthday to my co-worker Julie! She sure looks fierce and fabulous at fifty!!! Hope your day was great!

Oh how I loooooved Asha's outfit! One word----JAZZY!!

During math, we learned about subtraction. Somehow I didn't snap one pic. Overall, we had a marvelous monkey kind of day. :)
