We had a marvelous Monday in room 107! My KinderPals were ready for a full day of learning. We packed a lot in and enjoyed our second mystery reader, Ava's Grandmama. She is a doll and my kids loved her! Thank you for your time. :) We continued building stamina in writer's workshop, focused on writing and counting the numbers 1 and 2 in math. They worked hard during centers and reading groups. I am very proud of them!!

Happy Monday!

Hudson's sweet mom was our Mystery Reader last week. She did an outstanding job! Thank you for volunteering your time. My kids loved every minute with you. :)

Ava P's birthday is 9-09-09! She was ready to kick off the celebration last week! Birthdays are so special and we have enjoyed celebrating with her. :)

Tomorrow is her actual birthday, but why not celebrate a little early?!?! I love birthdays! We love you Ava P. and hope you have an extra special day tomorrow.

We high fived our 2 new sight words, like and yellow.

Check out King Austin's capital A's? Way to go!!

Ayah did great finding rhyming words in Hey Diddle Diddle. These "old school" poems have increased their ability to rhyme. After I tested a few weeks ago, I saw a major decline in producing rhyming words. We have really worked hard on this skill. Please continue to reinforce this at home. Thank you so, so much!!

We continued discussing nouns and labels. They have learned so, so much!

We had a fabulous Tuesday!

Wonderful Wednesday!

I'm back to blogging and it feels so good! We are settling into our schedule, so I'm hoping to post more. My kids have made tremendous gains since day 1!! I am so proud of them!

They received their book bags this week! Don't forget to help your child read and sign the reading log.

Daily warm-up with skills binder.

Great job Austin!

Ayan is ready to read!!

We learned about math journals for counting collections and interactive math notebook activities.

We learned the sight word /I/ this week.

We learned about letters Mm and Ss. We specifically focused on rhyming words and beginning sounds.

Great job Leighton! She found pictures that start with the letter Mm.

Read to someone is moving right along too! Kayden did a great job framing rhyming words.

We worked on floor procedures. I'm not a big desk fan, so this method works out great!

Word Work did great too!

I introduced iPads today. First, we went over and over the rules. I posted a mini anchor chart for visual clues.

This class LOVES technology!!

We focused on scientific observations in Science.Good job Ecem sorting measuring tools.

These 2 did great classifying, counting and sorting color tiles.

King And Queen is one of the highlight of our day! I love the way their books turn out! Check out that first/last name and date!! Woohoo!!

We got our skills binder today and book bags! These are essential tools for reading and writing. The book bag will go home every night starting in a few weeks. We use our skills binder for morning warm-up and as a writing resource.

2015-2016 KinderPals

Introducing my 2015-2016 KinderPals!!! I am in LOVE!! They are so precious! How blessed am I to call them my own?!?! Thank you for sharing your most precious cargo with me. It's going to be an amazing year!! Here's a recap of the last few days!!

We have learned so, so many rules! I'm sure you have heard a lot about our clip chart the last few nights. The goal tomorrow is for everyone to stay on Marvelous Monkey!! I know tomorrow is going to be the day!

We practiced writing our first and last name and also the date! We start this day 1! I believe in setting high expectations from the beginning. :) please work with your child on writing their first and last name with a capital letter and the rest lowercase. Thanks!

Hard at work!!!

This is one of my favorite artifacts. I have them write their name at the end of the year too and they can't believe the difference. I love to watch their reactions.

I loved seeing jitter glitter in their hair yesterday.

Today we highlighted the rhyming words and circled the capital "A" in August because...all the months of the year start with a capital letter! :)

Our morning chit chat is my favorite! There are so many new skills and conversations held during this 15 minute block. They were so attentive and eager to participate!

Austin framed the letter A during phonics!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is one of my all time favs!! Emma posted her favorite part of the book! Yes....I kissed a post-it to mark her favorite spot! They thought this was great! I think they all know by now I'm obsessed with red Mac lipstick. :)

We learned white board and expo marker procedures today. It's amazing that everything we do requires rules and procedures, but I promise it pays off in the long run! Your child will be more than ready for 1st grade. That's a promise!! :) we keep these in our seat sacks. These are great for early finishers, practice writing sight words, and so much more!

Ayush was the king today! He did a fantastic job!

He shared his favorite things and we made him a class book. Too fun!

Overall, the last 2 days have been fabulous! Again, thank you for trusting and blessing me with your child! It's such an honor.
