Zero the Hero

Vaishavi brought me a happy this morning! I love items from my wish list! Thank you so much!!

Addison was the queen today! She's was so articulate while sharing her favorite things.

She LOVES pink and purple!!

My kids are loving chit chat.

They did great finding the beginning missing sound. Sharing my pen is one of their favorites. It also lets me see who can write their letters and hear beginning sounds.

Today was special for many reasons! One being that Zero the Hero made an appearance. Every 10th day we sing, Zero the Hero song and sometimes he leaves something special. This is great because it helps them remember the importance of the number 0!

I introduced another Daily 5 Center....Word Work. This is usually one of their favorites.

These 3 dolls matched rhyming words.

Then they built letters using play-doh. So fun. This is a great fine motor skill.

Look at the mess! It was well worth it because their project turned out sooooo cute!!!

Pete the Cat!!! They got to pick Pete's shoe color.

I had a special visitor today! This is Lilly and she's a big 1st grader now. Sniff..sniff...I love her shirt! It's from my son's Rollin on the River Team. :)

I love Jack Hartman. We sang a lot of songs to get our wiggles out.

We can't forget to call the hogs! I love it!

Major cuteness going on here!

Have a great long weekend!! We're headed to the farm to see my family!!

Sorry I missed last night! Keithan was such a sweet, cute king on Wednesday! He did a fantastic job! I have a horrible cold and he helped me so much. :)

Ethan was the king today! He walked in the door ready for this important job. He was such a great helper!! We enjoyed learning about his favorite things, especially the baseball!!

I introduced poetry folders today. We highlighted the letter "a" and circled rhyming words. These will also be utilized during familiar reading in the morning or early finishers.

We talked more about journal rules and procedures. Vaishavi did AWESOME during journal writing!!

We practiced counting collection rules and procedures again. I know they get tired of practicing rule after rule, but this will help the rest of the year run so smoothly.

I introduced "read to someone" center today!! The kids were SO excited!!! We talked about the following....

Jonathan helped hold the book ambulance. We have to take really good care of Mrs. Hardin's books. I think I said that at least 20 times to them. :)

This is a favorite in this center!

Ethan did fantastic showing us how it works.

Saanvi modeled excellent reading strategies.

Addison too!

We had a great day!! If your child has a Razorback shirt or outfit, please let them wear it tomorrow! Go hogs!!

This little doll was the queen today! Annalise loved this important job!

She shared these cute ear muffs!

She even read the entire Pete the Cat book. It's definitely become a class favorite. :)

We made a student copy of the Pete the Cat book from the smart board.

I introduced familiar reading baskets today.

Each child is responsible for their own. It contains reading material that's familiar to them.

After they put their backpack up, they get their reading basket and read for about 10 minutes. We're going to be building reading stamina later this week.

We discussed labeling objects during writing. I can't wait to see their homework from tonight.

We also talked about what it means to be a star writer. These are important strategies we'll be using every day.

I "shared" my pen with Addison and Londyn during a mini lesson in writing. Great work!

We talked about the rules of journal writing. I keep hearing...there are sooo many rules from my kids. :)

Griffin did an outstanding job during independent writing. He wrote....I am a boy. I loved the way he illustrated and labeled. Awesome!

These 2 sweeties won the "all star" award in PE! Good job!!

Mrs. Weatter, our school counselor, did an awesome lesson in the classroom. My kids loved it!

I got more Scentos pens from Olivia! I love them!!!! I have never seen this kind. Thank you sooo much!!

Ethan brought me a variety of duct tape! Love it!! Thank you all for the class donations! Can't tell you how much it means. :)

We had a fabulous 7th day of school!!
